Understanding

With a determination to accomplish The highest welfare for all sentient beings, Who surpass even a wish-granting jewel I will learn to hold them supremely dear.

Whenever I associate with others I will learn, To think of myself as the lowest among all, And respectfully hold others to be supreme, From the very depths of my heart.

In all actions I will learn to search into my mind And as soon as an afflictive emotion arises Endangering myself and others, Will firmly face and avert it.

I will learn to cherish all beings of bad nature And those oppressed by strong sins and sufferings, As if I had found a precious Treasury very difficult to find.

When others out of jealousy treat me badly With abuse, slander, and so on, I will learn to take all loss And offer the victory to them.

When one whom I have benefited with great hope Unreasonably hurts me very badly , I will learn to view that person As an excellent spiritual guide.

In short, I will learn to offer to everyone without exception, All help and happiness directly and indirectly, And respectfully take upon myself, All harm and suffering of my mothers.

I will learn to keep these practices, Undefiled by the stains of the eight worldly conceptions, And by understanding all phenomena as like illusion, Be released from the bondage of attachment.

Say NO to Black Magic !

Is Someone Using Black Magic On You?

Due to jealousy, heart burning or some base cause, the Tantriks use cheap tactics to overcome the adversaries, which ruins one's life. Are you also under such a spell?

We must have peace and happiness in life, and to achieve the same we work hard. But we do not get in return to the proportions of our labour.

We get very little even after the best of our efforts, we toil to get success in our business but the profits are too little. We do not want any discontentment or discord in our family life, but inspite of our best efforts, the peace and tranquility of our family is disturbed.

On the other hand people work very little, but get too much in return. Businessmen have ample wealth just be putting in little efforts, bit we are disappointed even after continuous efforts. It leads us to conclude, that there are some evil forces which make our strategies unsuccessful.

Tantrik Prayog : Major Causes

Whenever you face such situations, feel assured that someone has used Black Magic on you, as a result of which all your efforts become ineffective.

Though such prayog is not easy, but some Tantriks expertise in it and torture innocent souls at the behest of selfish and greedy people. Such Tantriks have made Black Magic their profession, and use it on others indiscriminately at the behest of their adversaries, to mint money. Thus the happy life of the people is spoiled.

Such so-called Black-Magicians, no doubt can harm others, but they do not possess the powers to counter such Tantrik moves. As a result the victim keeps on suffering and sometimes it leads to the death of the victim. It is in fact very easy to cause harm through Tantra, but very difficult to amend the damage done. In order to learn the art of saving, one has to undergo Sadhna and Siddhi, and only a Tantrik of high caliber can do so.

Some bad effects of Tantrik Prayog

1. Continuous illness. All treatments fail.
2. Constant worries, suicidal tendencies, or a desire to move away from home and family.
3. Continuous illness of any member of the family.
4. Too much weakness associated with obesity and being short tempered.
5.Sterility, without any physical deficiency or without any medical reason.
6.Repeated miscarriages or death of the children.
7.Sudden unnatural deaths in the family.
8.Problems in the construction of house, factory or any other building.
9.Shortness of money, inspite of hard labour.
10.No desire to live. Feels suffocated. Life seems useless. No desire to rise in life.
11.Sudden quarrels between brothers or the members of the family, without any reason.
12.Achievement of objectives seems impossible.
13.Loss in the business of property.
14.Ill-health and under-development of children.
15.Loss of peace due to the fear of enemies and their evil designs.
16.Discord between spouses or the family.
17.Greatest efforts resulting in a failure.
18.Lack of Govt. favours, promotions and the desired transfers.
19.Poverty, inspite of hard work.

These are some effects which prove that you are under the spell of Black Magic. Though intelligent, you fail to find solution to such problems. It is due to the Tantrik Prayog that all your wisdom, all your strategies and all your intelligence fails.

The basics about Mantras and other remedies

While the Hindu Vedic astrology believes in the theory of fate it also advocates that you can make efforts to improve your destiny and counter act your fate by performing various remedies like poojas, stotra path, japa and charity etc. Given bellow are some of the time tested and trusted remedies prescribed in the various astrological and other important scriptures. Performing a Vedic puja, reciting of the mantras or charity will improve your overall progress.

Do not expect any overnight miracles. People in the olden days used to start learning poojas, yoga, meditation etc from the age of five. By the time they were 15 to 16 years old they used to attain a fairly good level of spiritual standards and when they performed poojas etc. even the Gods used to come down. Now a days people start doing Om Namah Shivaya or Maha Mritunjaya mantra japa only when they have a BP attack or when their son is ill! However one thing is sure. These remedies slowly wash away the negative karmic influences and improve the positive effects. By performing these poojas etc. your troubles may not vanish totally but the intensity of trouble is reduced and you get the inner strength to face them with courage and confidence.

Rules and regulations: A lot of people are worried about the rites and rituals to be followed for performing poojas, reciting stotras and doing mantra japa. There several types of poojas of the deities and some of them can take a whole day. The way a pooja is performed also varies depending on ones regional and traditional back ground. Various pooja books and websites prescribe long preparations and rituals for poojas. It is not possible for every one to perform a pooja like an ordained Vedic priest. Hence these scriptures allow one to do a pooja "Yatha shakti" or as per ones capability and convenience. Doing it with faith is what really matters. The minimum is: Take bath, wear clean clothes, light a lamp and an incense stick and offer some prasad - if you don't have anything at home the simple milk or sugar will do. You can rest assured that that the Gods will not curse you! Preferably keep an idol or photograph of the deity.

While doing pooja or mantra japa, preferably, repeat preferably and if possible, set aside a particular place to sit, face east or north, sit on an asan - preferably silk or woolen. If you cant manage these don't stop doing pooja or japa!

For mantra reciting, a lot depends on the type of mantra you intend to recite and the purpose. Some people recite some mantras daily. It is up to their convenience. The normal number of times a mantra is recited is 3, 11, 21, 27, 54 and 108 or more.

For specific Graha shanti, the number of times the mantra to be recited is prescribed. The prescribed time limit during which it should be completed is one mandala or 40 days. You are given a grace period of 8 days, taking into account any emergency or illness. So maximum 48 days.

If you have taken a vow to do X number of japas in Y number of days - jolly well do as vowed! No short cuts and no excuses. This is one failure for which the Gods make you pay! So think and calculate carefully (use a calculator please!) and keep an emergency cushion, before you take a vow!!

For most other mantras for specific purpose or siddhi, the time limit is 48 days. The minimum number of times the mantra is to be recited to give results, is 1 lack times with an extra 25% prescribed to compensate for any mistakes in pronunciation, counting and wavering of concentration - so 1,25,000 times total.

For the daily japa there are no restrictions. For the specific purpose and period oriented recitals - non-vegetarian food, alcoholic drinks and sex outside marriage are prohibited. Advisable to avoid onions and beneficial if u can avoid/reduce spices. There are some highly ritualistic tantric mantras and poojas. While doing these you cant have sex, prohibited from telling lies and should not even get angry for 48 days.

After the main mantra japa, preferably you must recite the gayatri mantra 108 times.

Mantras of various deities

Now a days there are thousands of mantras available in all kinds of remedial books and magazines. The authenticity and the effectiveness of most of them is quite doubtful. Most of what we are reproducing below are from the book "Meditations from the Tantras" by Paramahamsa Swami Satyananda Saraswati, one of the greatest self realized yogis of our times and an acknowledged master of the tantra.

Gayatri Mantra: According to the Hindu scriptures Devi Gayatri is the Mother of the Vedas. It is said that even Trinities (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) worship her as their Mother.

The Gayatri Mantra is the prescribed daily mantra for all Hindus and regarded as the remover of all sins and the bestower of all desired things. It is also part of the Sandhya Vandana.

The sage Vishwamitra is given the credit for bringing Mother Gayatri to earth. The following is the most commonly recited Gayatri Mantra.

Om Bhuh Bhuvah Svah Tat Saviturvarenyam Bhargodevasya Dhimahi Dhiyoyonah Prachodayat
The meaning of the Gayatri mantra is as follows:

We contemplate the glory of Light illuminating the three worlds: gross, subtle, and causal. I am that vivifying power, love, radiant illumination, and divine grace of universal intelligence. We pray for the divine light to illumine our minds.

Om: The primeval sound Bhur: the physical world Bhuvah: the mental world Suvah: the celestial, spiritual world Tat: That; God; transcendental Paramatma Savithur: the Sun, Creator, Preserver Varenyam: most adorable, enchanting Bhargo: luster, effulgence Devasya: resplendent, supreme Lord Dheemahi: we meditate upon Dhiyo: the intellect, understanding Yo: May this light Nah: our Prachodayath: enlighten, guide, inspire

The other Gayatri Mantra is as follows:

Om Bhu, Om Bhuvah, Om Svaa, Om Mahaa, Om Janah, Om Tapah, Om Satyam, Om Tat Savitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Dhiyo Yo Nah PrachodayatOm Apo Jyotih Raso-mritam Brahmaa Bhur Bhuvah Swaa Om

According to the Hindu belief there are fourteen worlds. Bhu, Bhuvah, Svaa, Mahaa, Janah, Tapah, Satyam are the seven Higher worlds and Atata, Kutala, Vitala, Mahatala, Rasatala, Bhutala and Patala are the seven Lower worlds. The above Gayatri mantra is recited by those seeking the Higher worlds.

Maha Mrituyunjaya Mantra: This mantra of lord Shiva is the most effective and the most commonly recited one for curing all types of illnesses and to avoid any misfortunes and untimely death.

The Sound of OM

OM or AUM is the most important and significant word of Mantra tradition. It is considered as the root mantra of all mantra. In a majority of Mantra, you will find OM.

OM is the most often chanted sound among all the sacred sounds on earth. This sound is considered as the sound of the existence. It is believed that the whole universe, in its fundamental form, is made up of vibrating, pulsating energy. Om is considered as the humming sound of this cosmic energy.

OM is said to be the original primordial creative sound from which the entire universe have manifested. It is also known as the 'Anahat Nada', the "Unstruck Sound". This means the sound that is not made by two things striking together.

If you observe the nature of sound you'll find that all ordinary audible sound are produced by the striking of two objects : bow and strings, drum and stick, two vocal cords, waves against the shore, winds against the leaves, bat against the ball, tyers against the road etc. In short all sounds within our range of listening are produces by things visible or invisible, striking each other or vibrating together, resulting in pulsating waves of air molecules which we interprets as sound.

In contrast to the above, OM is the sound which is not the result of the striking of two objects. It, rather emanates on its own. It is the primal sound of the universe that contains all sounds in itself.

The meaning of OM

Well unlike all other mantra, there is no meaning of OM. It is actually not a word, it is a sound. As per Hindu tradition, OM is the purest name of God. It is the sound of the supreme consciousness. So when you reapeat OM, you actualy take the name of God.

Now without going into the further philosophical explanation of OM, let us learn how to meditate using OM. Repetition of OM or AUM dissolves the mind it its divine source. The chanting of OM several time loud, purifies the atmosphere.

Sit in a comfortable undisturbed place. Take some deep breath. Now chant at least 7 times OM in succession. Make each breath last as long as possible. Teak deep breath and chant Oooooooo~~~~~hhhhhhhhhh~~~~~ Mmmmmmm~~~~~. Then again repeat this chanting of OM. Do this for 7 times. After this, stop chanting and sit for a moment of silence. You will be amazed by the inner peace you'll get in such a small chanting of OM.

Body, Mind & Spirit

Body and Spirit

Vital-Etheric body supplies energy for the physical body, and forms the energy template on which the physical body is built.

Emotional or Astral body for feeling emotion and experiencing the astral plane
in dreams and between incarnations.

Mental body for the various thinking functions and tuning into the mental plane for inspiration.

Light body or Spiritual body for experiencing the higher spiritual worlds.

Mind - Conscious mind, Subconscious mind, Unconscious mind, Super-conscious mind & Supra-conscious mind.

Mindfulness Meditation

Sit comfortably, with your eyes closed, your spine reasonably straight.

Let your attention rest on your breathing.

When thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, or external sounds arise, simply acknowledge and accept them, allowing them to pass through without judging or getting involved with them.

When you notice your attention has got engaged in thoughts, emotions, or sensations, bring it back to your breathing and continue.

Synergy

On observation of a certain positive attitude coupled with desireable emotional and psychological disciplines and the destruction of egocentric disposition alongwith shredding of materialistic wants, a positive and welcome vibration is created. This is referred to as occurrence of Synergy. In short, humility and language of timidity blended with truthful behaviour leads to a spark of synergy.

Synergy is desirable because it creates unity, cordiality, truth, and cooperation out of our differences. It is the loving spark that brings greater wisdom and agreement to us. It happens
when the Supreme Power or Almighty assists us.

Synergy occurs when we are able to set aside our own egos and surrender humbly to Higher Power Assistance.

Self Realisation

It's all in your head. Yet, belief is one of the most powerful healing tools we have in our therapeutic arsenal."
You are not your body

You are not your mind

You are not your emotions

Since the body, mind, and emotions are constantly changing and thus can't be said to be the permanent you, who are you? You are the consciousness that can witness your body, mind, and
emotions in action. This is your Real Self. Please appreciate what good news this is - you are not limited to your sense perceptions, your thoughts, or your feelings. You are the infinite awareness.

The more you identify yourself with the Inner Witness, the freer you are and the more potential you have to control your body, mind and emotions. You can act instead of react. The freedom
is far greater a wealth than all the gold in the world, for if you had all the gold in the world, you would instantly begin worrying that you would lose it. By not attaching yourself to anything that
can be lost, like your body, mind, or emotions, you cease being a reactive slave and begin at Peace, for your Real Self, your Witnessing Pure Consciousness is infinite, eternal, blissful Peace.

Ascension ?

All spiritual traditions have spoken of the ultimate goal of meditation. It has been called Enlightenment; Self Realization; God Realization; Nirvana; Cosmic Consciousness; Mukti;
Christ Consciousness; etc. Currently, the term "Ascension" is emerging in our collective consciousness to refer to this goal, so we will use that term for consistency. What, then, is Ascension ?

Ascension is:

Becoming an instrument of Universal Light, Love, Wisdom and Power. Playing a greater role of service in the Great Cosmic Plan. Taking our place among the assembly of Ascended Beings from all cultures who have reached this evolutionary pinnacle.

Metaphysical

Some might think that why all the educated people believe in God and Super powers...Here…I would like to mention that beyond the mundane studies...another school opens for a study which is called metaphysics…

What is metaphysics ?

Metaphysical refers to anything and everything which is beyond the confines of the mundane world. Anything which is abstract, non-material, discarnate, non physical, supernatural, superhuman, mystical, transcendental spiritual and unearthly can be regarded as metaphysical.

We face or see many unbelievable things in our day to day life. These and many other such true incidents makes us more inclined to believe that there is some Force, Power or Entity which definitely and actually exists but is beyond the comprehension of mundane life.

Mantras

The sound of every mantra has a specific vibration designed to produce a specific effect. By attuning to this vibration when we meditate on a particular mantra, the desired effect is produced in our lives. Although mantra is an Indian word, such words of power have been used in the mystical practices of almost all cultures.

Mantras basically creates vibration hence mantra is defined as Mananath thrayathey Ithi Manthra. When you reflect, you get protected. Mantras not only create a very powerful vibration but also have deep impact on us. Study has shown that by certain type of music plants grow better Mantras are also musical in a mystical domain.

In the Hindu tradition the two most powerful mantras are Gayatri Mantra and Maha Mrithyunjaya Manthra.

The word Gayathri means Gaayan-tham Thraya-the Ithi-Gayathri. Whoever chants gets protected. Gayathri Mantra creates the most powerful vibration and also brings about enlightenment.

4. SO HAM meditation techniqueue - 3 cycles of 12

The first sound we heard when we were in our mothers' womb was the sound of her breath, and this sound has been with us ever since we drew our first breath. In the Bible, when GOD was asked what his name is, He answered "I Am That I Am'. In Sanskrit, the sound of the inhalation is termed SO, and the exhalation is HAM.

Close your ears by putting your thumbs in them to intensify the sound of your breath. Focus on the sound of your breath coming in. Associate it with the word SO. As your breath leaves, listen to the sound and associate it with the word HAM. To pronounce SO and HAM correctly, listen to how they sound.

5. Bhastrika - position Vajrasan - 12 sets X 3

Raise your hands up...breath-in through your nose while raising your hands up with full force….drop both the hands down together at the shoulder level by closing the fist during exhalation through your nose with full force.

After every set of breathing, inhale through your nose as much as you can so that your lower abdomen is like a balloon, close both your fists with your thumbs engulfed by your fist held tightly against the lower abdomen and hold your breath as much as you can. After this, exhale slowly through your mouth.

6. Shavasan - Position - Lying down position, both the palms facing the sky with legs apart (guided meditation-visualisation on chakras, colors and mantras)

The root chakra (color-red, mantra-LAAMM), the sacral chakra (color-orange, mantra-VUMMM), the solar plexuus chakra (color-yellow, mantra-RUMMM), the heart chakra (color-green, mantra-YUMMM), the throat chakra (color-blue, mantra-HUMMM), the third eye chakra (color-indigo, mantra-AAAUMM) and the crown chakra (color-vilot, mantra-AAUMM).

Please visualise the colors on each chakras and chant the mantras corresponding to each chakras. This visualisation is done first in ascending and then in descending order.

Now slowly get up and sit in Sukhasan, visualise the symbol of AUM and chant AUM 3 times by generating vibration throughout your body, rub your palms vigorously, then cup against your eye balls and slowly open your eyes with a few blinks.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis: Myths, Mysteries & Realities

Movies hype would have us believe that a hypnotist can control and direct our actions, and that we can be made to do all sorts of unimaginable things under hypnosis. Following is a list of some of these common myths, which must be clarified before we proceed further.

The hypnotist can make you do things against your will.

Absolutely False. The hypnotist has no powers over you at all, and cannot make you do things against your will. All Hypnosis is really self-directed and self-controlled. The hypnotist merely guides you into a hypnotic state, and feeds your mind with carefully worded suggestions. If you feel uncomfortable with these suggestions, you may reject them at will. Hypnosis is essentially a matter of cooperation between the hypnotist and his subject, not some form of power the hypnotist possesses which will compel the subject to submit to his or her will.

Once under Hypnosis, one can't come out of the state on his own.

If you are under hypnosis and the hypnotist suddenly left the room, two things may happen. You will either realize that the hypnotist is no longer talking to you, and will open your eyes, feeling fresh and alert. Or, you may drift into natural sleep, in which case you will wake up after a few minutes (or hours). It means the person comes out of the trance on his own.

Only weak-minded people can be hypnotized.

False. Hypnosis has nothing to do with will power. People often confuse hypnotibility with gullibility. There is no connection between the two. On the contrary, the more intelligent a person is, the easier it is for him to be hypnotized. To be hypnotized, one needs the abilities of concentration, imagination and vivid visualization.

Under hypnosis, one can be made to reveal his secrets.

As mentioned above, under hypnosis, the subject is fully alert, in fact more alert than usual. The hypnotist can only guide the subject to remember forgotten memories. Whether the subject will reveal them to the hypnotist is entirely at his own discretion.

Hypnosis is dangerous.

Untrue. It is quite the opposite. Hypnosis is a safe and natural process. One fact that most people are unaware of is that we undergo Hypnosis several times in our daily lives.

One needs special powers to be hypnotized.

Any average person with the willingness and patience to learn, can master the skills of hypnosis. Like other skills such as playing the piano, or learning a foreign language, some people are "naturals", and become accomplished with little training while others can increase their abilities through regular practice. A good, confident voice is an advantage, but not a must.

The user might become dependent on hypnosis.

You cannot become dependent upon hypnosis because it has no physical effects on the body. However, many people look forward to their daily hypnosis exercises because they become totally relaxed and awaken refreshed.

Definition of Hypnosis:

Hypnosis (or Hypnotism) is the science of how the human mind functions. Hypnosis is an art, too, because, while there are a few widely accepted theories, hypnosis is the study and use of the Hidden Powers of the Mind.

Psychologists and Hypnotherapists from all over the world have different opinion on Hypnosis. Here I have put together some of the different definitions from respectable sources and professional who practice Hypnosis:

Webster's Dictionary (1876) defines hypnosis as:

1. A state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject.

2. Any various conditions that resemble sleep

The Skeptic's Dictionary:

Hypnosis is a process involving a hypnotist and a subject who agrees to be hypnotized. Being hypnotized is usually characterized by:

a. Intense concentration

b. Extreme relaxation

c. High suggestibility

Hypnosis is commonly used in behavior modification therapy to assist clients in overcoming phobias or bad habits.

A Dictionary of Psychology and Psychiatry:

Defines hypnosis as follows: "A superficial or deep trance state resembling sleep induced by suggestions of relaxation and concentrated attention to a single object. The subject becomes highly suggestible and responsive to the hypnotist's influence, and can be induced to recall forgotten events, becomes insensitive to pain in the hands of experienced hypnotherapist, gain relief from tensions, anxieties and other psychological symptoms." (Goldenson, 1984, Page 358).

1990 Grolier Encyclopedia: "Hypnosis refers to a state or condition in which the subject becomes highly responsive to suggestions. The hypnotized subject seems to follow instructions in an uncritical, automatic fashion and attends closely only to those aspects of the environment made relevant by the hypnotist. If the subject is profoundly responsive, he or she hears, sees, feels, smells, and tastes in accordance with the suggestions given.

Weitzenhoffer, 1953: "An artificially inducted state, usually (though not always) resembling sleep, but physiologically distinct from it, which is characterized by heightened suggestibility, and as a result of which certain sensory, motor and memory abnormalities may be induced more readily than in normal state.

More briefly, hypnosis has been defined as follows:

"Altered state of mind; [Hilgard, 1965; Orne, 1959]

"A trance"; [Erickson, 1967]

"A controlled dissociated state", [West, 1960]

"Intensified concentration"; [Debetz & Sunnen, 1985]

Frankel, 1976; Spiegel & Spiegel, 1978]

"Concentrated Awareness"; [Morgan, 1983]

"Atavism"; [Meares, 1960]

"A non-state explainable by experimental and relationship characteristics"; [Barber, 1969]

These are some of the widely used definitions for Hypnosis. But the most widely accepted definition is by Dave Elman –

"The bypass of the critical faculties and the establishment of selective acceptable ideas, concepts, and thought"

To sum it up:

Hypnosis is a state of mind that we use as a vehicle to communicate with the subconscious mind. In this state, the subconscious mind is more open and receptive to suggestions.

By combining the power of suggestion with the power of imagination in the hypnotic state, we create a powerful environment for change and growth.

Reiki

Reiki, the universal energy is defined as the power which acts and is inherent in all matter.

Reiki is two words … Rei means The Universe and ki is prana…, the life force energy. Hence reiki means spiritually controlled universal life force energy. In modern terms, it is called as bio-energy, cosmic energy and Christians may call it as Christ Light.

Reiki, also referred to as the Usui System of Natural Healing, is a vibrational energy technique that balances, harmonizes and restores our energy systems by using non-polarized energy through the energy centers in the palms of the hands.

Reiki is a wholesome therapy that addresses the body, mind and spirit, going beyond symptoms to treat the root cause of the disease. It helps us maintaining balance in our own health and that of others. We can experience energy in our body, usually as a sensation of warmth of tingling. Reiki cannot possibly harm anyone as it adjusts naturally to the individual's needs. It can be used any time, any place and in any situation. Reiki is simple, safe, non-intrusive as no aids, diagnosis or medicines are required. Therefore, anyone can learn Reiki. Reiki is for those people who wish to take more responsibility for their lives and who wish to live more lovingly, joyfully and fully.

Thousands of years back, Tibetans possessed a deep understanding of the nature of spiritual energy. They exploited this knowledge to heal their bodies, to harmonize their souls and to lead their spirits to experience unity and oneness.

This knowledge was guarded and preserved by the mystery schools and was available to a very few people, usually priests or spiritual leaders who in turn passed this technique to their disciples by word of mouth.

The knowledge of Reiki would have remained lost forever had not Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered the key at the end of the nineteenth century which led to the recovery of a thousand-year-old tradition of healing in 2500 year old Sanskrit sutras.

Reiki was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Christian theological scholar and teacher, who in the mid 1880's, after responding to a challenge from several of his graduate students about how Jesus healed, undertook an extensive study of the healing phenomena of history's greatest spiritual leaders. In the Buddhist writings he found the Reiki healing technique and spent the later part of his life applying and teaching this knowledge.

Reiki reached the western world in the late 1970's through Mrs. Hawayo Takata. Since then, tens of thousands of people have received Reiki worldwide.

Five Principles of Reiki

Dr. Usui taught us five principles of reiki … those are…

1. Just for today, I will not be angry

2. Just for today, I will not worry

3. Just for today, I will do my work honestly

4. Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing

5. Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings

Reiki is God's love in its purest form. It is completely unconditional. It demands nothing of the giver nor of the receiver. It propounds no creed or dogma. It requires no specific belief in the Supreme being or in Reiki itself. Used in its traditional form, as developed by Dr. Mikao Usui, the Usui System of Natural healing, Reiki heals the body and emotions, bringing them into balance and promoting health, happiness, prosperity and long life.

Aura & Chakras

The Life force energy, Aura and Chakras

We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body through path ways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When the flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body.

Chakras are the energy centers in our body. There are 7 major chakras and 21 minor chakras in our body. Apart from these chakras, there are more than 800 micro mini chakras. All these chakras function on the instruction given by the major chakras.

Closely linked to these charkas (energy centers) are the endocrine glands, a non-ductular gland which produces hormones, these hormones produce harmony in our body. These charkas responds to asanas, mantras, yantras and gandhas which creates positive vibration in our energy centers and due to this reason, we feel good and relaxed after visiting a worship place, after doing a meditation, after performing yoga, laughing exercise or even after performing hymns (bhajan).

1. The crown chakra - located 2 to 3" above our head also referred to as the Sahasrar charka

Explanation : Connection to the Divine,Spirit Guides, Source of Spiritual Energy.

2. The third eye chakra - located at the center of eyebrows also referred to as the Ajna Chakra

Explanation : The third eye is the center of psychic powers and higher intuition, you can receive guidance, channeling, and tune into your higher self. This is the center that enables you to experience telepathy, astral travel and past lives.

3. The throat chakra - located at the throat also referred to as the Vishuddha chakra

Explanation : This is the center for communication, when this center is open, you will have a powerful desire to talk about what you are experiencing. When you do this ,some of your old friends will fall away, but your true friends will always be there for you, so let go of the ones who are uncomfortable with the new person you are becoming. You'll find that there are many new and wonderful friends who will be magnetically drawn to you as your own energy changes.

4. The heart chakra - located at the center of the chest also referred to as the Anahata chakra

Explanation : The heart chakra is the center of compassion, when the heart is open, you transcend the limits of your people, plants, animals, all of life. This is the humanitarian center, you care about social causes. like saving the whales and the planet earth.

5. The solar plexus or navel chakra - located at the navel region also referred to as the Manipura Chakra.

Explanation : Center of personal power. When the solar plexus is open ,you have found your unique gift, the work that gives you pleasure and makes you feel fulfilled. One way to find your gift is to consider what you most enjoyed doing when you were a child, this will give you clues about your natural inclinations. In martial arts the third chakra is considered the center of Chi, the life force energy (also known as Reiki).

6. The sexual chakra or the sacral chakra - located at the genital region also referred to as the Swadhisthana charka.

Explanation : This chakra is about friendliness, creativity, sexuality, emotions and intuition on the gut level. It's influenced by how emotions were expressed or repressed during childhood. The sexual center for women.

7. The root chakra - located at the base of spine also referred to as the Mooladhara chakra.

Explanation : The center of physical energy and vitality, the energy to succeed in business or material possessions. Center of manifestations. Throughout the ancient world in historical and mythological stories, the root chakra has been associated with dragons and snakes .Dragons is a symbol for the kundalini fire energy.

Meditation

Meditation is an art, which has been practical over the ages. The objective is to quieten the mind, to control thoughts and to move on a path of higher consciousness. Meditation is simple and practical.

It is about experience rather than theory, a way of being rather than merely a way of thinking. Indeed,it is even more than a way of prayer; it is a way of life, a way of living from the deep centre of one's being.

In India, the different schools of Yoga teach meditation techniques that involve simple breathing exercises, chanting of mantras and concentration on symbolic forms like Mandals and Yantras.

Most people take to meditation for self-development for the individual soul to evolve on its spiritual path.

There are many types of meditation. The one definition that fits almost all types is..."Consciously directing your attention to alter your state of consciousness."

There's no limit to the things you can direct your attention toward...symbols, sounds, colors, breath, uplifting thoughts, spiritual realms, etc. Meditation is simply about attention…..where you direct it and how it alters your consciousness.

What is the purpose of meditation?

Traditionally meditation was ( and still is ) used for spiritual growth...i.e. becoming more conscious; unfolding our inner Light, Love and Wisdom ; becoming more aware of the guiding Presence in our lives ; accelerating our journey home to our True Self……..Our Spirit. More recently, meditation has become a valuable tool for finding a peaceful oasis of relaxation and stress relief in a demanding, fast-paced world.

How meditation works ?

Meditation, which, to promote love, peace and harmony, is based on the principle that some of the major chakras, the energy centres to our body, are the entry points to divine consciousness.

We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body through path ways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called The Aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When the flow of life force is disrupted it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. In modern terms, this Universal life force energy is known as bio energy or cosmic energy and Christians call it as a Christ light. Life force energy responds to thoughts. When negative thoughts gets into our mind, the flow of life force becomes less and we are more likely to fall sick.

The chakras are the energy centres in our body, which responds to Asanas, the posture…Mantras, the chants...Gandhas, the the fragrance or aroma...and Yantras, form or visualisation.

There are 7 major chakras and other 21 chakras in our body. Apart from these chakras, there are 108 minor chakras and more than 800 micro mini chakras. All these chakras function on the instruction given by the major chakras.

Closely linked to these main chakras is the endocrine system, the non ductular glands which generate hormones. The function of hormones is to generate harmony in the body.

Mind Reading

Whether we know it or not, we're all street-corner psychics. Without the ability to divine others' thoughts and feelings, we couldn't handle the simplest social situations—or achieve true intimacy with others.

By:Annie Murphy Paul

If a baby starts to cry several hours after drinking his last bottle, his mother knows precisely what he's feeling: He's hungry. But suppose a woman's eyes brim with tears while she watches a DVD. Her husband sinks into the couch: What is she so upset about? She might tell him directly: "This movie is so tragic. It's all about a doomed romance." That may be true. But she could be thinking about how the story reminds her of her own marital troubles. Maybe she's feeling hurt because she thinks her husband should realize what's bothering her and acknowledge it. Or maybe she isn't even aware that her real-world concerns are intensifying her reaction to the fictional couple.

Quickly and unknowingly, he scours his mental files—on his wife's relationship history, on her reaction to the fight they had that morning, on the way she typically reacts to similar movies. He notes the particular quiver to her voice, observes the way she's curled up on the couch, watches the expressions flickering across her face. He takes in information from all of these channels, filters it through his own wishes and biases… until finally it hits him: She knows about his mistress!

Every day, whether we're pushing for a raise, wrestling with the kids over homework, or judging whether a friend really likes our latest redecorating spree, we're reading each other's minds. Drawing on our observations, our databank of memories, our powers of reason, and our wellsprings of emotion, we constantly make educated guesses about what another person is thinking and feeling. Throughout the most heated argument or the most lighthearted chat, we're intently collecting clues to what's on the other person's mind at the moment. "It's a perceptual ability I call mindsight," says Daniel Siegel, UCLA psychiatrist and author of The Mindful Brain. "It allows your brain to create a map of another person's internal state."

Mind reading of this sort—not to be confused with the infallible superhero kind of telepathy—is a critical human skill. It's the way we make sense of other people's behavior and decide on our own next moves. Mind reading enables us to negotiate, compete, cooperate, and achieve emotional closeness with others. It lets us figure out when we're being manipulated or seduced. It's how we know when someone finds our jokes hilarious or is humoring us out of politeness. Mind-reading ability is perhaps the most urgent element of social intelligence.

Do it poorly and the consequences are serious: It can lead to conflict born of misunderstanding. It can make us feel lonely within a relationship. It can even incite violence: Abusive husbands typically—and inaccurately—attribute critical thoughts to their wives; that's why they lash out. Difficulty divining others' thoughts and feelings—"mindblindness"— characterizes autism and is what makes the condition so socially debilitating.

Decades of research on mind reading (or, as psychologists call it, empathic accuracy) now reveal how it works, who's especially good at it, and how we can improve our ability to divine others' thoughts—even when our conversation partners may not know their own minds. The thoughts and feelings of others, including those closest to us, are far from transparent; that makes mind reading the only way to know someone beyond the mere surface. It's the only way to achieve true intimacy. And the only way to love someone for who he or she really is.

The Great Trade-Off

It's astonishing that we can peer into each other's minds at all—but in truth we generally don't do it all that well. Strangers (who are videotaped and later report their second-by-second thoughts and feelings, as well as their assessments of their counterpart's thoughts and feelings) read each other with an average accuracy rate of 20 percent. Close friends and married couples nudge that up to 35 percent. And "almost no one ever scores higher than 60 percent," reports psychologist William Ickes, the father of empathic accuracy, who is based at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Our (limited) ability to mind read has ancient roots, says Ross Buck, a professor of communication sciences at the University of Connecticut. Over thousands of years of evolution, humans' systems of communication grew more sophisticated, as living and working arrangements became more complex. Mind reading became a tool with which to "create and maintain the social order," as Buck puts it. It helped to know when to affirm a commitment to a mate or defuse a dispute with a neighbor.

Of course, in order to advance our own interests, we still needed to conceal feelings from others at times, and even to lie. "We didn't always want to show exactly what we were thinking, because others could use that to gain the upper hand," says Buck. Our merely adequate mindsight, then, can be thought of as the product of a tug-of-war between the need to show and the need to hide our true selves.

This delicate balance between perceiving and concealing has served humans well over our long history, but Siegel worries that mind-reading ability is now on the decline in our culture. Today's obsessed-with-success parents spend so much time stimulating their children with structured activities, noisy toys, and Baby Einstein DVDs, they are not sitting still and being "present" with their kids. As a result, they deny children the opportunity to learn how to get in tune with another person, physically and emotionally—that is, to develop mindsight. A reasonable degree of mindsight is required, he says, for a civil society in which adults are kind to one another.

Seven Sides of a Sixth Sense

If everyday mind reading is a sixth sense, it's a very complicated one that relies on all the other senses and fully exploits our cognitive and perceptual abilities. For starters: When we're trying to get inside someone's head, we comprehend the meaning of the words being spoken, we monitor facial expressions and body language, and we register the tone of voice and the cadence of speech.

Not all mind reading moments are created equal, however. There are break points, times where the interaction changes color and tone. A break point could follow an awkward pause or the entrance of someone else into the discussion, explains Sara Hodges, a professor of psychology at the University of Oregon. We don't have to pinpoint our partner's every fleeting thought and emotion, but we'd better gauge these moments right, because they carry more weight. "If you're reading someone pretty accurately but then miss the point where they go from laughing along with you to feeling teased in a hurtful way, or if you miss the point where a light conversation turns serious, then all your other points of accuracy may be blown, and it's going to reveal that you're not very empathically accurate."

Reading body language is a core component of mind reading. It can reveal a person's most basic emotions. Researchers have shown that when watching a body's movements reduced to points of light on a screen, observers can still read sadness, anger, joy, disgust, fear, and romantic love. We're primed to read emotion into movement—even when there's very little to go on.

Facial expressions are also cues we use to know what others are thinking. Despite the 3,000 different expressions we may deploy each day, it's the fleeting microexpressions that betray many feelings. Unfortunately, the vast majority of us are terrible at detecting them. Still, we tend to focus on others' eyes, and that helps us. The many surrounding muscles make eyes a richer source of clues than other parts of the face: downcast in sadness, wide open in fright, dreamily unfocused, staring hard with jealousy, or glancing around with bored impatience.

We know even more about someone's mind from the way the components of conversation fit together—someone's words, gestures, and pitch of voice may seem either aligned or incongruous. But despite all we glean from body language and voice tone, Ickes finds, it's the content of speech that contributes most to our success at mind reading. Words matter.

All Together Now

There's yet another, deeper level on which mind reading happens. Emotions are in a sense contagious, and we may sense what's on others' minds by "catching" what our conversation partners are feeling. Psychologists have long known that we tend to converge emotionally with others as we talk to them; without being aware of it, we copy them, altering our physiology from the outside in. Like the method actor who "becomes" her character, we start to "feel" what the other person is feeling. When we mimic other people's behavior, speech, rhythms, gestures, expressions, and physical attitudes, studies show, we gain a direct sense of their feelings and psychological attitudes as well.

Though smiles spread easily, negative emotions are more contagious than positive ones overall, probably because our brains are especially sensitive to negative information. And picking up someone's anxiety or fear triggers our own fight-or-flight response, which gets our heart racing and blood pumping. Research has shown that those who are most susceptible to emotional contagion do better at reading a person's negative thoughts and feelings than they do her sunnier ones.

Mind reading, however, is not a one-way process; it's a dynamic interaction, and this adds an additional layer of complexity. Siegel conceives of mindsight as starting with interoception—a sense of our own bodies and inner state. The more self-aware you are, the more easily you will recognize, for example, that you are suddenly tense. You might attribute that to your conversation partner: "Jane must be on edge about her job." And you may be right. If you begin to comfort her even before she's said she's worried about her career, you will come off as a caring, perceptive friend.

But you might be wrong. Jane could be fine while the tension you sensed was a figment of your own imagination. Say you grew up in a family where anger was not managed well, observes Siegel; you may tend to pick up on false threats. "Your internal mechanisms color your mindsight," he says. All our particular prejudices, biases, and memory distortions also affect our mindsight. We may read ulterior motives into straightforward statements if we have a suspicious worldview. Or we may see good intentions in evil ones if our take on others is more optimistic.
Because there's a direct correlation between having a good map of your own mental state and drawing accurate maps of other people, Siegel believes that attentiveness or mindfulness—which can be increased through practices like meditation—can "stabilize the lens of mindsight. It helps you see your interior world with more clarity. As you further develop mindfulness, you can look to your increased self-knowing as the material from which you draw empathic inferences."
Skill at sensing your own feelings and interpreting all the clues your conversation partner is giving off qualifies you for truly advanced feats of mind reading: identifying those thoughts of which even the person having them is not aware. "The ability that separates the sheep from the goats, so to speak, is the ability to discern a thought or feeling the other person hasn't yet fully recognized," says Hodges. "They're not lying or concealing their emotions, they're just still sorting them out. And you can help them with that."

Those who can do this are the most valuable kind of friend, the ones who can lead others to deep realizations about themselves. But they must guide gently, Hodges cautions. A comment like "It seems that you're feeling a little sad about this—could that be right?" will be more readily accepted than a presumptuous "I know what you're really feeling."

ABC's of Mind Reading

The ability to read minds actually begins at birth, newborns prefer faces to any other stimulus, and babies just a few weeks old are able to imitate facial expressions. By two months, infants can perceive and respond to the emotional states of their caregivers; by one year, "children monitor adults' expressions and use them to guide their behavior," reports Nancy Eisenberg, a psychology professor at Arizona State University and an expert on emotional development. At 2 years of age, children can infer others' desires from the direction of their gaze; at 3, they can label facial expressions as happy, sad, or angry.

By age 5, children have acquired a rudimentary ability to read others' minds; they possess a "theory of mind." That is, they understand that other people have thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that are different from their own.

Children hone their mind-reading skills by eavesdropping on adult conversation, from which they discern the complexities of social rules and interactions. Play with peers provides opportunities to practice reading the minds of other kids, necessary preparation for knowing what's going on in grownups' minds. Such abilities unfold seamlessly in the normal course of development. But they may be impaired in abused or neglected youngsters. Children from violent homes, for example, may be overly sensitized to angry expressions, seeing anger where it doesn't exist; severely deprived children, such as those raised in institutions, may lack the ability to clearly identify any emotions at all.

Sophisticated mind reading of the "I know that you know that I know" variety emerges only in late adolescence. That's because the ability to hold in mind the subjective perspectives of several people at once—and to integrate what you understand of the world and of the particular person you are encountering—often requires a fully developed brain. The natural narcissism of teenagers may lead them to interpret others' thoughts and feelings in the most self-centered way possible: When a mother panics because her daughter arrives a few minutes after curfew, the daughter will likely think "Mom's trying to control me again!" instead of the more accurate "Mom is upset because she was worried about me."

Surprise, Surprise

Ickes is eager to shoot down one of the oldest canards about mind reading—that women have some intuitive advantage. With UT colleague Tiffany Graham, he found "virtually no evidence" that women are better mind readers than men. So why the persistence of the gender stereotype? "It may be not an ability gap, but a motivation gap," says Ickes. "In everyday life, women seem to be more easily motivated to try hard to understand what the other person is thinking and feeling."

Support for such an interpretation comes from a study in which researchers offered cash bonuses to participants for accurately reading others' minds. The payments "wiped out any difference between men's and women's performances," suggesting that men can read minds as well as women when they want to. The trouble is they don't always want to.

The role of motivation in accurate mind reading helps explain another counterintuitive finding: Newly married husbands and wives are very good at sensing each other's states of mind. But just when we expect them to get even better at it, because they know each other more intimately, something unexpected happens: Empathic accuracy actually ebbs after the first year of marriage.

Why should those who know each other better do worse at understanding each other? They become a bit arrogant, confident that they know each other, and perhaps less motivated to put effort into reading each other, Ickes suggests. That lack of motivation may affect marital dynamics; sociological data show that marital satisfaction also plunges after one year. No matter how long you've been married or in a friendship, Ickes observes, assuming you know what someone's thinking kills mind-reading accuracy.

Research on mind reading offers more surprises. You might think that high scorers on tests of sensitivity would be great mind readers. But they aren't. Neither are professional listeners: A study of psychics found that they were no better at mind reading than the rest of us. Psychotherapists prove no more accurate than laypeople in making inferences based on facial expressions; however, they're significantly more accurate in making inferences based on language.

And shared experiences (of, for example, new motherhood, alcoholism, or parental divorce) don't help us get into other people's heads—a fact that may come as a surprise to the millions of people who participate in support groups.

What Helps Can Also Hurt

So what does matter to effective mind reading? Advanced education, high intelligence (especially verbal intelligence), open-mindedness, and good mental health abet empathic accuracy. Everybody does better when reading people they know—but people who are better than average at figuring out strangers are also superb at reading those in their inner circle. Then, too, some people are easier to read than others. They talk more and use more gestures, providing the rest of us with a detailed map of their thoughts and feelings.

Of course, the same mind-reading skills that help you be a compassionate friend and supportive partner can be used to hit loved ones where it hurts. Think of a long-married couple who torment each other with intimate knowledge: He knows she's thinking about her long-lost brother, and makes a quip about how she never took care of her siblings anyway; she senses he's contemplating his business failures and confirms that he has in fact screwed up everything he's ever tried.

For anyone in a relationship, the art of mind reading demands knowing when to probe and when to leave well enough alone, a strategy that calls for an old-fashioned virtue: discretion. Ickes calls it "managing" empathic accuracy. "Couples with discretion know when to go into their partner's head, and when to stay the hell out," he says. "You may have a pretty good idea of what's going on in there, but you respect your partner's boundaries, and your partner respects yours."
That means letting your partner come to you sometimes, instead of jumping in and completing his or her mental sentences. It also means not overreacting to thoughts you've divined that are threatening, but fleeting: Your boyfriend may enjoy watching that attractive actress on the big screen, but it's your hand he's holding in the movie theater.

Fortunately, we get more than one chance to read someone correctly. A wise mind reader continually refines her initial assumptions about what someone else is experiencing. "The good friend isn't necessarily the one who immediately understands—it's the one who cares enough to keep trying to understand," says Hodges. "You always have another chance to guess the other person's thought or emotion, another chance to get in sync."

Being in sync with another human being can be a transcendent experience, and one that's worth the effort. To know another and to be known yourself, says Siegel, "is the heart of empathic relationships."
